When is a lip plumper like an ab machine?

April 23, 2008 by Designer Ella

When it works, you’ve got to *feel the burn*.  According to AOL readers, Lip Injection Extreme by Too Faced ($28 at Sephora.com) really works, better than any other they tested for the network. The only issue was a long-lasting slight burn. Still, I’ve found this more of a success than those that only showed results for 30 minutes. (What good is that, without constant “freshening up”?)

Plump lips

This makes me think … it’s too bad a girl can’t just do exercies to plump up lip muscles, instead, for permanent results!

Isn’t Blingier Better?

April 23, 2008 by Designer Ella

DiamondAccording to this article on AOL, sparklier diamonds are often actually fakes (especially with a rainbow sparkle). And then I think, “then give me the fake!” What I want especially out of my engagement ring (or any diamond) someday is such a brilliant cut, etc., that it’s as sparkley as can be. So why is genuine always better?

Can an inspired BAG be better than the higher priced originals? I once though I liked my Birkin-style bag from Wilson’s Leather because it had shoulder straps (like the JPG Shoulder Birkin) but now I think, “eww, long straps!” (To be fair, they weren’t, like, down at my hip long or anything!) So maybe the experts always know what’s best for us, even if we do not? I mean, higher quality (if it exists in higher price - but that’s another entry) usually means longer life. Diamonds may NOT be “forever” but they can cut up a mean amount of things, while remaining in tact. While I want my true love to be gentler than that, I want our feelings toward each other to be just as tough to trials and time. Genuine diamonds DO kind of give that statement.

Of course, they also give the statement, “I don’t care who’s blood shed for your diamond, honey, I love you so much, I just care about you having your selfish bling!”

What says love like the uncaring of all others, huh? ;-)

I snark, I snark. Seriously, what do you think?

Stay tuned, for in a few days I’ll feature some obviously fake, but totally fun, bling. (I promise, for I made such a ring myself, and how can I resist the publicity?)

LiLo has Peter Pan Legs & Man Feet

April 18, 2008 by Designer Ella

Scrolldown!

Lindsay Lohan huge sneakers

These pants go way far too beyond skinny jeans. I barely recognize them as being denim (don’t they kind of resemble a blue heather fleece?) And then we get to those sneakers. Lindsay looks like her feet belong on a teenaged boy. That ensemble is an insult to her fantastic patchwork handbag.

By the way, I was out of the fashion game for a while, and now cannot find this bag anywhere after a day’s research - can you name it or the designer?

The Hill’s (and feud’s) Co-Star, Heidi’s Fashion Line

April 14, 2008 by Designer Ella

Celebutante see, celebutante do. Isn’t that the way it always is? And The Hill’s not being true fiction makes its biggest stars, Lauren Conrad and Heidi Montag both just celebutantes (who “worked” for it).

Months after Lauren’s handbag line came out with Linea Pelle, Montag’s fashion collection has just debuted with Anchor Blue, an equally obscure house to this quarter-aged fart.

If you’re wondering whether Heidi has the chops to design clothing. I’m going to take her own quote to say, “No”.

“I love zebra print!” she said. “I’m obsessed with it!”

And it’s all over her collection. Yayyy, she follows one trend. I love zebra print myself right now. Oh but didn’t that start at least back in the Fall? Like on this handbag from Dooney & Bourke (actually a 2008 edition, but still).

What more in the advancement of design could we expect from a girl who named her line Heidiwood, with the tagline, “Welcome to La La Land!“? Mmmmmmmmm, those Las are supposed to stand for L and A, but okay… We know you live there, anyway, Heidi!

Candy Coated Shoes are BACK!

April 14, 2008 by Designer Ella

I’m not a trend follower of late, but the announcement of this one excited me for a very important reason. Seeing the hot, neon, sparkly, etc. pumps on the show What Not to Wear started my love for shoes, which brought on this blog, which introduced me to handbags, and ultimately that led to my handbag line I’m finally ready to start!

But back to the blog for now, and well the shoes..

Reports say bright shoes are in for Spring. Fun! Cute, and definite excitement in your steps.

I’d like to go over some “hot” (pun intended, as per usual) choices in different categories …

First, fashionista in different price points:

Thanks to my readers!

April 14, 2008 by Designer Ella

Yes, I am back. And not in lame once-a-week doses, nor with (I hope not) boring content. (Not that we used to have boring content, no..)

But thanks in great part to you, my readers, and the commenters of this post, and your wonderful support - I am back.

I read your encouragement to just change things instead of stop, and I now know some (many?) of you will stick around (if/when you notice I’m back) through them.

Here you will find a lot more:

free speech, musings instead of shopping, indie buys, critiques on the industry and mass production… and we’ll see what else!

You will not find celeb worship. Woohoo!

I hope to see you around!

xo ; Elle
