Poll: What Does Your Dad Need this Father’s Day?

June 12, 2006 at 12:00 am by Designer Ella

Our next poll is: What does your dad need this Father’s Day? What is he lacking, wardrobe wise. Is it a complete sense of style, itself?

* New wardrobe (even should he get a total makeover or be taught the laws of fashion, like on What Not to Wear?)
* New wallet (is his bulging or ratty?)
* New shoes (are there holes or do they have an odor [I know, I know]?)
* A man’s bag (I just love those. They should catch on, don’t you think?!)

The poll is located in the left sidebar right below the Glam ad.

Dress Up Your Dad this Father’s Day

June 9, 2006 at 9:00 am by Designer Ella

Fathers usually need a lesson or two in how to dress, the older straighter gentlemen (or un-gentlemen even more) especially.

Getting your dad the gift of Banana Republic apparel is a great start. Buy a few classy yet casual shirts, then you must teach him how to layer the shirts together for a sophisticated look.

Shop Father’s Day at Banana Republic .com, now!

You’re the fashionable one, so help your father in the best way you know how!

What Do Mothers Want? (Poll)

May 6, 2006 at 2:00 pm by Designer Ella

Coach Optic Signature Shoulder ToteWe product bloggers all pretty much have to write a post on telling readers what to get their dear mas for Mothers’ Day. But I just know my own mom. (Seems to always be Coach.) So, to aid me for years to come (hopefully). I’m asking you: what do you always want/like (as a mother) and what does your mom always ask for or greatly appreciate?

I want to get to the bottom of it, the heart of it. (No flowers or candy.)

Your turn!

Bloggers: this will help you, if you help spread notice of this post! Link to us, then you may freely use the ideas of our commenters.

Carolyn Koslen Pearl Necklaces

It’s the day after a probably disappointing Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re single, or your man didn’t deliver, now is a good time for our next discovery of an independent jewelry designer. (They have rare pieces, great style & quality, and great prices!) Now, it’s Carolyn Koslen! Her items are full of pearls or beads, full of sophistication, with trend and luxe, all mixed in.

Koslen even has some charity-donating pieces for sale, and there are bridal and children’s items. She’s worth checking out and indulging yourself, or perhaps nudging-nudging your someone.

Santa, Baby

December 24, 2005 at 5:16 pm by Designer Ella

Santa baby, slip some cashmere under the tree, for me
I’ve been an awful, good girl
Santa baby, and hurry in the front door tonight

Santa baby, an iPod mini 6gb, too, in pink
“Discontinued” cannot stop you!
Santa baby, I’ll leave the front door unlocked, tonight

I haven’t overdrawn all that much,
Think of all the items that I haven’t bought.
Next year I could be oh so good
If you’d leave me with nothing to want!
Boo doo bee doo

Santa baby, Fill my stocking with COACH gift cards.
Cash will do, but sign checks with a nom de plum,
Santa baby, although I do believe in you!

Santa cutie, there’s one thing I really do need, the deed
To a condo in sunny Florida!
Santa cutie, and I’ll let you vaca overnights!

Hurry in the front door tonight

Hurry

- - -

I am a big fan of Santa, so I had to do this song tonight. I put my own little jokes in here, including one on moi! Yes, this list comprises the things I truly want (and I do need that home in Fla!). See my *dream* list tomorrow, in the final installment of Carols of the Blogs; Shopping Carols.

Merry Season, Happy Holidays!!

Blame Late Delivery on Forzieri.com

December 22, 2005 at 6:25 pm by Designer Ella

Blame Forzieri Apology Note

In my vote for the most inventive way for a store to give back to its customers, while attracting more, Forzieri.com is offering to to ship a little note apologizing, on their behalf, for late delivery. While the real reason the gift will arrive on December 27th is because you messed up, your dear pal will think Forzieri just had too much Christmas delivery to deal with. Although I’m not sure the givee will want to shop there, this is a fantastic promotion. However, it—and a corresponding 10% off—is only available through joining their e-mail list. So visit Forzieri.com now! And get your code; offer starts December 25th and lasts three days. That’s plenty of time!

Dreaming of An Ice Christmas

December 20, 2005 at 11:55 am by Designer Ella

Christmas day is fast approaching, so it is time, again, for another Carols of the Blogs!

1 karat colorless diamond ring white goldI’m dreaming of an Ice Christmas
But one must be in the know
I read deepest cuts glisten
So boyfriends listen
To get sparkling like the snow

I’m dreaming of an Ice Christmas
With every wishing list I write
May your days be frugal on price
So your Christmas morning may have Ice.

Without Packages, Boxes or Bags

December 14, 2005 at 9:13 pm by Designer Ella

I now interrupt our regular fashion & shopping schedule to bring you an important message about spirit and life. I interrupt my abundant gifting, my over-COACHing, my over eBaying, my silly gifts-for-me disguised as my pet’s. I even interrupt my horrid Finals project & essay. (And I honestly interrupt my time-wasting web browsing.)

Yes, instead of a shopping-carol, I bring you the wisdom of Dr. Seuss, PhD:

Every Who down in Whoville, the tall and the small, was singing—without any presents at all. He hadn’t stopped Christmas from coming, it came! Somehow or other, it came just the same! And the Grinch, with his Grinch feet ice cold in the snow, stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. He puzzled and puzzed ’til his puzzler was sore. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn’t before: “maybe Christmas,” he thought, “doesn’t come from a store. Maybe Christmas perhaps, means a little bit more.” … And what happened next? Well in Whoville they say that the Grinch’s small heart grew three sizes that day. And then the true meaning of Christmas came through, and the Grinch found the strength of ten Grinches, plus two.

Christmas day is in our grasp, so long as we have hands to clasp. Christmas day will always be, just so long as we have we. Welcome Christmas, while we stand, heart-to-heart, and hand-in-hand.

And now I continue on a little break, while I work on school. We do have our 1 year birthday coming up! I will do my best to put a little something together. Meanwhile, maybe we can all take a little break and focus on the true spirit of the holidays.
