Shoes.com Now Features Reviews!

May 16, 2006 by Designer Ella

Shoes .com Reviews

Seychelles EspadrilleShoes.com=""/ now offers reviews by and for customers. They’re actually a bit more like Amazon than Zappos, with a single star system and a user’s ability to flag the post as helpful or not. I was just thinking the other day, “how helpful to the business” reviews would be on Shoes.com. I don’t really think there’s competition with Zappos, completely, just yet, as long as the two companies remain to have slightly different inventory.

Check out a sample (real) review here

For every review you write, you will be entered to win a $250 gift certificate. Too bad I haven’t bought anything on that site in a while (and their stock often changes).

Talbot’s Open-Toe Ballet Flats Review

May 3, 2006 by Designer Ella

Talbot's Open-Toe Ballet Flats

Talbot’s Kidskin leather open-toe ballet flats are ironic perfection: soft, soft, lightweight, flexible, kid-skin leather ballet-style flats—but with no toe at all! The supple, crackled leather gives with the shape of your foot, so you get the comfiest fit (although that means wider toes can push the material out). Unfortunately, the sole and footbed are not very supportive, so they’re not the best for walking long distances. Almost just perfect! Oh, no, Talbot’s!

Still, I love their beautiful contrast of colors (I chose black and pewter [which will go with nearly everything!], and also adore the Gold/Silver) and that open toe is very sexy, as usual (natch!).

The best thing is that I’ve finally found and now own dressy black flats, like I’ve wanted since these Delia’s didn’t fit.

And then there’s the price, $84. But I considered the other options available for open-toed flats: rigid leather abounds. These are worth it if you’ve been eyeing the style since the cold winter months. Now’s the perfect time, don’t wait any longer!

The Comfort of Easy Spirit (Rendir Sandal Review)

April 20, 2006 by Designer Ella

Easy Spirit Rendir

So, after walking that Florida outlet mall over 1.5 miles long … in wedge heels. and then walking the next day in unsupportive Dr. Scholl’s, my feet had it. Then I came across an Easy Spirit store. I found the most fabulously comfortable sandals … that were stylish, too! I scooped up the multicolored pair of these Rendir, pictured, and I think I’ll go get the black, as to not wear one pair out too quickly. They are still comfortable, even more so than my cute little slippers for around the house. They are so supportive, it’s amazing. These really do easily earn their 5 stars and beyond!

Plus: it’s getting to be the time where I can wear them in Massachusetts, even! on especially warm occasions.

Clarks Twill Review: Comfortable Espadrille

March 31, 2006 by Designer Ella

Clarks Twill

What first caught my eye about these low-heeled wedges was the multi-brown pair. I did order the “black” (more dark brown) though because they were running out of sizes. I love them, too. And the 2 1/2″ heel is really great because there is a platform to lessen the feeling. They are really so comfortable, by a new Clarks brand called Artisan, with a padded heel.

They do start to hurt during a lo-hot of walking, especially with the friction from the toe to the leather sole (and the straps, at first). But I still can’t wait to wear them again in shorter distances.

Steve Madden Nadinee Review

March 24, 2006 by Designer Ella

Steve Madden - Nadinee (Brown) - Women's

Steve Madden Nadinee is the sexiest shoe I’ve had on my feet in a long time. And it’s practically flat. It has the hot peep toe and wooden wedge. Trendy and chic. Perfect?

Unfortunately, it’s a little rough around the edges. As in hard edges that poke my feet. They’re not the most comfortable.

I have this lovely picture to keep of one shoe on my foot, but unfortunately, these must be returned to Zappos.

XOXO Countess Review

March 15, 2006 by Designer Ella

XOXO - Countess (Cream) - Women's

The XOXO Countess plaid flats with croco-embossed faux leather are even cuter in person than on screen at Zappos.com. The tartan material is intricate, with flecks of sparkling pieces. The shoes’ spectator-esque vamp even works to elongate the leg with that strap-look of tan.

Unfortunately, the shoes have a narrow width and the material is inflexible. Otherwise, they’re not too uncomfortable. Very pretty to look at. And plaid!

Day of Rest: Comfy Flats

October 9, 2005 by Designer Ella

Sunday is the Day of Rest, claimed so by God, but then Jesus decided to force people to wake up early, slip into their “Sunday Best” and sit at boring church. I kid the spirit of Jesus! You know what I mean.

Sunday is to sleep in late and read the paper. It is to read your favorite blogs! It is to stroll through the charming shops downtown. While you do this, look cool, but feel comfortable. Ella is saying this, because she works hard for the weekend, and she is now so glad to have the holiday (here in Boston). I’m going to try to find soft & sweet picks for you (I may need suggestions, the style world is filled with stilettos and pointy-toes).

These shoes, I have mentioned before, but will review them, now. Entry continued, read more »
