Poll Results: Your Preferred Heel Width

June 9, 2006 at 5:00 am by Designer Ella

The results of our first poll are concluded, but I must confess, I’ve been a little worried all along. After I attempted to clarify what a medium heel is to me (and a sculpted wedge), your votes for that type went up!

Still I know I should have included images at the start, I have them for you now:

Heel Widths
(Thin & Sleek - Medium & Trendy - Thick & Sturdy - Standard Wedge - Sculpted Wedge)

The winner was the … Entry continued, read more »

Donald Pliner Sportique Wedge Pumps

June 7, 2006 at 5:00 pm by Designer Ella

Donald Pliner Sportique black suede 'Heather' wedge pumps

The divine-ness that is the “wedge pump.” I truly love love the wedge style with a tricky look of a thin* pump heel. These Donald Pliner Sportique suede “Heather” wedge pumps are on sale at for $62.99. If one of various foot sizes, you too can own a pair of fabulousness with these super-stylish wedges. The price is right, now to make these in mid heels, please?

*Actually, the pump look is pretty much on the thin side of medium, as related to our first poll: on heel width, but the entire shoe style counts as a “sculpted wedge.” The Medium & Trendy option is slightly winning out, and I just want to make sure you are voting according to my ideas of what the words mean, because results will be discussed in an article according to them. You can also see a medium heel in the pink illustration that rotates into view on our header every few page impressions, and as pictured below … Entry continued, read more »

Kiss Me, Stace’s 1st Poll: Heel Width

June 5, 2006 at 12:00 am by Designer Ella

I’ve started polls here. Hopefully they’ll be successful. They can lead to post ideas or just interesting discoveries.

They will be placed on the left sidebar below the image banner ad (from Glam).

The first poll is:

Which High Heel Width is Best?

* Thin & Sleek (stiletto and the like)
* Thick & Sturdy (the practical)
* Medium & Trendy (like with the current platform trend [not your 70s or 90s platform, though])
* Sculpted Wedge (rarer)
* Standard Wedge (thicker & more shapeless)

Please leave your comments on the poll on this post!

Christian Louboutin - Suede Cork Heeled Shoe

May 30, 2006 at 12:00 pm by Designer Ella

Christian Louboutin Cork HeelThe hottest shoes (IT shoes!) for summer are the red hot Christian Louboutins with cork heels, and Bergdorf Goodman has a brown suede peep-toe slingback version.

The tobacco suede is subtler than a patent black or red, but we still have the classic Louboutin toe, this time in peep-toe cork, and of course the signature red sole.

With a high, high heel and an elastic sling back, this shoe comes in at $670.

Manolo Blahnik Mary Jane with Rhinestone

May 23, 2006 at 9:00 am by Designer Ella

I was feeling Manolo Blahnik for the Designer Item of the Week for a little while, now, but seeing the huge selection makes me wish I’d been keeping up with this designer more! What to do? I must keep things fresh (and real to my whims!) as fashion/any blogging should be, so we’ll see great shoes as great shoes are found, whenever, as they deserve. (Besides, doing what I want is so with the emotions of loving fashion.)

Oh, but now, where to start?!!

Manolo Blahnik Mary Jane

A perfect update to Blahnik’s Mary Jane is a rhinestone button on a black satin shoe, although with the Manolo name and $545 pricetag, I’d wish for more extravagant than rhinestone. It’s nice to look at, but then again, could have more of a stunning shine. Eh!

History of The Pump

May 22, 2006 at 2:30 pm by Designer Ella

Suart Weitzman 80s Black Satin recently debuted a special article/media feature celebrating the Pump. The closed-bodied heeled beauty has quite the place in pop culture today, as it has over many decades. View the history of pumps on

The neatest things I learned:

  • Coco Chanel made the spectator spectacular.
  • Marilyn Monroe custom tailored her pumps for one heel to be slightly lower than on the other foot—to accentuate her “wiggling” walk.

Vera Wang Shoes: Weekly Designer

May 17, 2006 at 9:23 am by Designer Ella

I thought that I’d explore Vera Wang’s slightly more usual design route since the last post on her mattress design—this time shoes (in the future, her gowns). Vera Wang’s shoes are extremely eclectic, more than any I’ve seen, from bridal shoes to sporty sandals. They come in all shapes, heel heights and many trends.

Here are a few examples:

And even that last bright sandal. Hey, if you can pull off tangerine! (It does come in a more “natural” colour.)

Colorful Strappy Heels

May 9, 2006 at 11:00 am by Mallory Road

Colorful Strappy Heels
You know that I usually post over at Pursed Lips, but I say it’s a good thing Ella asked me to guest post this week because otherwise I wouldn’t be getting to tell you about these shoes which I think are awfully cute! I love, love, love when I discover a pretty pair of shoes, especially when I can actually afford them!

Selling for $72, they’re featured in the latest issue of Lucky magazine, so if you like them, I suggest you place your order quickly. Also, as a little perk, enter “luckymag” at the checkout on le train bleu’s web site and you’ll get 25 percent off everything! Featuring leather straps in brown, light blue and yellow, they’ll be the perfect shoe to glide in this summer as you show off your perfect pedicure, of course!

Designer of the Week: Fendi

May 9, 2006 at 7:00 am by Designer Ella

Fendi Patent Buckle SlidesMallory Road gave the the idea for this week’s featured designer: Fendi. With their IT bag’s instantly-noticeable belt buckle, accessories other than the purses with the same buckles can be just as hot.

That goes for these shoes, the Fendi Patent Buckle Slides, which she didn’t feature, but linked to. Well, I had to feature them.

They’re perfection!
