Time is Now an Issue - A Costume Shop Review

September 25, 2007 by Designer Ella

This is a sponsored, 100% honest review of HalloweenExpress.com. Learn more about paid reviews at ReviewMe.com.

HalloweenExpress.com has a large variety of costumes for any occasion, plus wigs, makeup, props and some pet costumes. It doesn’t, however, offer enough selection for everybody.

Their pet selection is tiny, and offers absolutely nothing for the fashionista doggie or cats at all. That’s my major gripe, but the shop also is missing what I need for my own costume (I’m making mine out of an adult pumpkin costume, but I’m making it into something else!) - they’re also missing my wig.

The plus sides of the stock are that there are more than the sexy costumes for women’s, and they even have plus sizes. (Some actually photographed on plus models - wow.)

So all in all, many people, many years, may find just what they need here. It’s probably more convenient than eBay or Amazon Marketplace. Sure, one finds anything there, but we have to deal with different sellers - so there’s a big guessing game we risk. Besides - bonus! - Halloween Express offers a “no hassle” return policy. Sweet - ya can’t get that with most individual sellers!

High School Musical Movie Costumes

The good thing about Halloween Express is the express in the title is a part of the point. This established business cares about getting costumes to you in a timely manner. They have detailed information and tools to figure out when your shipment might arrive, but I didn’t find it that easy to use. Ya just have to inspect it closely.

Still, you should always know not to put off your costume or costume supplies shopping, especially when done online (however I must note that online stores probably run out of stock later than your local party shops). Nothing is ever guaranteed from any supply once October arrives.

If you are able, hurry hurry, time is an issue — get your costume secured (and/or possibly made?). Unfortunately, I am both moving and making my own costume. Eep! Certainly, when the orange and black season arrives, do keep HalloweenExpress.com in mind as an option - it’s certainly a fair shop, and I doubt it will flake out on your order.

Need to Know more Hair Style Info?

September 25, 2007 by Designer Ella

This is a sponsored, 100% honest review of Hairstyles.info. Learn more about paid reviews at ReviewMe.com.

Hairstyles.info

A quick glance of Hairstyles.info lets you know the creators know style, with the glammed up cover model’s graphic-meets-tresses diva look.Hairstyles.info is just that, a collection of articles, and even galleries, about styling one’s locks. There aren’t even any ads to be seen on the website’s pages, at the moment. Admittedly young, but off to a great start with plenty of content already, this educational yet fun site is setting up to become a staple go-to and a must read before a big salon trip. The site as it is now contains categories with both photos and infotaining articles based on style type. Each type runs through descriptions of the best within, but there aren’t enough photos attached to each style in the articles yet to aid and give eye candy. (Perhaps take some from the galleries?) On the plus side, the writers, even early on, have covered so many of the best ‘dos! I’m also wishing for more detailed how-tos as well though. Step-by-step photos would be fantastic! My biggest how-to wish — any info for the woman yearning to create curly hair out of perfectly straight boringness. ;-) (’10 Things You Must Know About Getting a Perm’, is one example.)

Wedding HairstyleThere is, of course, some great info, even in the site’s infancy. ‘Should wavy-tressed girls brush, comb, or what?’ is an example of a Q&A — something I’m thinking will be done a lot as the site grows. Many gaps in the site’s content can be excused, and no review can be perfectly fair about it being small — but I am disappointed that the suggestions for very long hair are the old and boring, which frankly don’t work to make a woman a fabulista. (Ponytails, braids and buns? Oh my! Oh no!) Get a little more creative, and you’ll have us mousing for those social bookmark buttons. That’s a dare!

Other great aspects to the site that can only improve with time are sections like “men’s hairstyles” (Yes! They didn’t forget the men [something I actually do - te he]) and … “emo hairstyles“? Wow, I didn’t know that existed! Good job covering it, Hairstyles.info. Perhaps every personality deserves its own hair style! Maybe this means Hairstyles.info supports the individual, and that’s something I admire! Except still needing to be added are tips for face/body shape, and I’d even like to see what styles go best with each hair color! Indeed, you should explore every path you can, and eventually, you can be a master on the web.

Vera Wang collage SS 08

What happened to Vera Wang’s skills as a top wedding gown designer? Her entire collection for Spring/Summer 2008 is a bunch of *Sad Sacks*! :-( It’s like “burlap chic” with better fabrics but equally bad colours, oh and sans chic. *Snort* Puh-leaze! Next!

L.A.M.B. Kicks of Fashion Week like a Lion

September 7, 2007 by Designer Ella

L.A.M.B. Spring 2008 preppyUm, since when does NY Fashion Week start on a Wednesday? My bad, I didn’t even know what today’s date was. I’m so out of it since I got out of school, but luckily now I have plenty of time for reporting the catwalk!

OK so I honestly didn’t GET why Gwen Stefani has been respected for fashion design - I didn’t see her as more than a celebresigner. That was until I saw her Spring 2008 collection for L.A.M.B.

Now since when is Gwen Stefani, miss Harijuku-ex No Doubt-Mrs. Rossdale - preppy? (Unfortunately I see Autumn as the preppy season, not Spring. But it’s my fave look, so I won’t complain too much.) Well, her collection was delightfully preppy-youth-hip and her models still looked sexy, funky and cool. Hats off! (Seriously, take that hat off!)

Now one may still see the clothes as still on the teen-music-scene side, but when you see the dresses, it’s all over—you give in. Gwen’s a good designer, and this collection is fantastic. I may even already have my favorite of high fashion Spring 2008. Oh Gwen, come over to H&M real quick, okay? ;-)

By the way, it wouldn’t do to tell you how those dresses rock with class, so here are a couple photos!
