Mandy Moore Pairs up with COACH

July 2, 2007 at 9:37 pm by Designer Ella

It seems that Mandy Moore appearing at a COACH event in April (and toting a limited edition Aligator bag) meant something more than that she likes the brand (but she does, she does). It seems it might have been in the works that Mandy would promote COACH for their soon-to-debut Fall collection. On www.coach.com right now, an interview with the singer is featured, along with her new single (Extraordinary - great song) and Moore’s favorite picks from the upcoming line.

In the interview, which is available in streaming video, Mandy says she always has a COACH bag wherever she travels, her favorite accessory is a scarf, and she carries big bags and totes all the time, but enjoys her clutches for evening, too. The star is also sporting a Legacy Stripe scarf introduced last Autumn (like this Ponytail Scarf available now).

Here are a couple of faves Mandy and I share: The LILY Satchel and FARA pumps (available soon).

COACH bag and shoes

Stay tuned for more from COACH, and hopefully, from this team.

The Stylosphere’s Own Salon de Maria (Palma)

July 2, 2007 at 9:00 am by Designer Ella

Salon de Maria amber bracelet

Maria Palma is a dear Internet friend of mine, and you know her well from blogging at The Runway Scoop. And if that’s true you probably are familiar with her own designed jewelry, or at least remember a mention here and there. Salon de Maria is the blogger’s other job, with fine hand-made jewelry and even home-designed greeting cards. Pictured above is one of her creations.

You can browse and luckily buy from her shop on Etsy, and while you’re there, you may find yourself lost in the other independent jewelers and gosh - just anything that can be made with two hands! Fun. Thanks to indie jewelry designers, or any apparel and accessory makers working from their own homes, the public (you!) can look more attractive and stay unique!

And of course, keep reading Maria’s thoughts on the workings of haute couture at www.therunwayscoop.com!

One last note, this designer jewelry offers EXTREME bargains! I ordered one piece, so trust me on this! Order order order before that silly girl realizes she should raise her prices considerably! Your gain is well … her sale at least!

With the Headscarf, Unwashed Hair can be Cool

July 2, 2007 at 5:00 am by Designer Ella

Vera Wang headscarfHead scarves are coming back for Fall, as declared by Style.com, inspired by the runway shows last February. Head scarves can range from covering up in the rain (or dirty hair), holding down one’s locks out on a drive, secured as a headband with ties hanging down or any of the crazy ways from the runways as showcased on Style.com. However one does it, it’s all old school and a bit old lady; even nicknamed Babushka (grandmother in Russian).

I like it a little more tamely tied than designers might envision, but I’m fine with this look coming into style. Classes in the early mornings are helped along by a night-time shower the previous day, and a scarf can help hide some limp and/or oil on the tresses.

But is it all silly? Is it lame? What do you think - fabulously ugly or … what?
