Crazy Stitch Belt by ‘Machine Stops’ at Etsy.com
May 21, 2007 by Designer EllaRecently I finally embarked on a dream and started sewing and teaching myself to knit, all for the hope of making accessories to sell — really starting my dream of being a handbag designer — and I became obsessed. One lucky side effect in my new craftiness is the discovery of the all-home-made indie mega online shop; Etsy.com. It’s sort of like the hand-crafted non-auction eBay, allowing individuals to add their own products to one big site.
One cool product, in the trendy category of belts, is the Crazy Stitch Belt by The Machine Stops. It’s an original (although I ordered a similar belt, yes you can special order from most sellers/creators on Etsy) and definitely different from everything you usually see on the streets. Plus, you’re supporting indie artists and giving your money to accessory makers that aren’t big conglomerates for a change. There are so many reasons to shop indie, but you really don’t need many when you fall in love with a piece. That’s one bit of beauty about Etsy, there’s something for everyone.
Watch out - it might just inspire you to create!
