Black Friday, the Comic Edition

November 30, 2006 by Designer Ella

Check out this comic about Black Friday last Sunday on Canned Ham.

Canned Ham Comic - Black Friday

Yes, I’m still loving the Black Friday stories and jokes. :-) My big, nay huge mall day is tomorrow. (Shhhhh super secret Coach invite came, and I’m a VIPer who was invited to go 1 day early. [At least I think I’m a VIPer, I even got a phone call from my own SA!]) So it’s Coach to reap the rewards of birthday money, and trying to get a Michael Kors bag with a Macy*s coupon (wish me luck on that one, and oh can you use those on gift cards?) and possibly buy more presents!

Customized Girl: Personalized Tees & More

November 29, 2006 by Designer Ella

The following is a sponsored and honest review.

Customized Girl .com is a shop a little bit like Café Press but solely for personal buying of your own customized items, plus it’s much more girl-friendly in selection, color and is easy and fun. They offer items for women, men, kids & babies and pets, too. You can buy tops, bottoms, undies, bags, hats and even dog tees - and for the holiday season; stockings (including a doggie paw stocking)!

Customized Girl .com products

You make your own creations or quotes, monogram your name, whatever, plus you can pick colors (including glittery ones), fonts, positions of text, and even clip art for all products.

There’s also a gallery feature, so you can save designs for later, or even make them famous.

One feature I’d love to request is the ability to upload our own images to add, and I’d really love cropped sweat pants, personally.

There’s an infinite amount of fun and items to buy in this shop, but it’s especially great for holiday gifts. Your neice’s name on this, your pup’s on that, or even your own slogan on the tush of sweat pants.

I know I’m going to do some shopping there, myself, but this site takes some thought and preparation. The rest of you, better get on those gifts!

Omiru Shows Us Trendy Faux Fur Coats

November 29, 2006 by Designer Ella

Marvin Faux Fur CoatOmiru, oh my I love you. It’s a great fashion blog, especially for trends. And I can’t get enough of their polls.

Being bored with my own post ideas I have in line, as I do—I’m quite fidgety, I thought I’d look to see what other bloggers are saying.

Omiru gave a reason (a small one) to wear only faux fur and supplied a list, separated by price, of faux-fur-embellished coats on the web. The best part? The most expensive is only $158 from Nordstrom.

Oh faux fur, I love you, too!

Pucci Sale + Funky Ballerina Shoes

November 28, 2006 by Designer Ella

eLUXURY is currently having a big Emilio Pucci sale with hundreds off the entire inventory!

Emilio Pucci Shoes

For shoes, what caught my eyes were these Cupola Satin Ballerina Shoes. The print is just-right on a ballerina flat, but wait, these aren’t flats. They have a short chunky heel. It’s all blended oddly, but beautifully when we add that long ankle strap with bow. Wow, what a shoe. And it’s $249 off of $420.

Stories from Black Friday?

November 27, 2006 by Designer Ella

Last year there was a whole carnival on the day, now barely a blog I see has mentioned shopping on Black Friday. It’s just what I wanted to read!

The Runway Scoop came to my rescue, briefly. Maria actually stood in line in the cold wee hours … for discounted Pumas?

That story was a bit of a letdown, but I’m excited to hear that “one of us” was on of “them” in the lines. So Maria, for whom are the sneaks?

The closest I got to shopping was bursting, “hey, let’s go shopping!” But we didn’t. I did buy one thing online.

Bad story, of course. One just can’t do it (shop on Black Friday, cliché and no joy), but hey, I just wanted to shop. I shopped Wednesday through the then crowds and loved what I got, I wanted a little of that high action. I might need more leggings, anyway!

Last week, most of what I did was blog ’til I dropped. I’m trying to pick up the pace, but in my first week back in full time, I do a double-blog serial??? Crazy. Crazy I am.

Anyway, so do you have any stories from Black Friday?

Holiday Gift Week: ver. J. Crew Winter Accessories

November 24, 2006 by Designer Ella

This is post #6 in our Holiday Gifts series, part 5 was on Forever 21 Outerwear.

J. Crew EarmuffsJ. Crew is a fairly new discovery for me, although they’re a little pricy for me for non-designer, so I don’t often shop there. But when I saw — and especially felt — their Shearling-Lined Tweed Earrmuffs, I couldn’t stop thinking about them. These really keep one as warm as any ear muff can. I’m just s0 obsessed, it’s bad.

As for scarves, the black and white Fair Isle is one of my picks and the Snow Flake Pom Pom is my other.

And for hats and scarves, there are sooo many supernice ones, but many are only subtly different, so you should check them out for yourselves.

The average price of one of these items is about $40, so these could be the gift of a little luxury for not a bad price. These could be a gift set or one favorite item. Give warmth, get warmth perhaps back.

Holiday Gift Week: ver. Forever 21 Coats

November 23, 2006 by Designer Ella

This is post #5 in our Holiday Gifts series, part 4 was on Gap Winter Accessories (for girls).

Forever 21 coatElla here, dial-up-laptop-blogging on Thanksgiving morning. Boy, it’s early (when I start this draft) - when does the parade start anyway? Well, onto the shopping!

Forever 21 is a great store for runway-style clothes on. the. cheap. Forget H&M and even Target, even with their fanshay-shmanshay designers, nothing captures truly detailed style like Forever 21. For a great-priced gift, get one of their coats! (Although they’re not the warmest, so give to warmer people or in warmer climates, although I’m trying to make it with mine.)

They also have a faux fur bolero, and an arrangement of sweaters, plus more (like runway copy bags, eh).

See you tomorrow with more posts. That’s right, I’ll be in blogging, not shopping on Black Friday … well, maybe later on in the day. I might want leggings, even though I went to the mall yesterday - ooohh earmuffs! ;-)
