Skinny Jeans: Style Society’s Huge Thin Disorder
September 7, 2006 at 7:23 pm by Designer EllaI have a horror story from recent shopping. I said I bought jeans in a recent post, but it took some time. Express had great pockets and a few sophisticated washes of denim, but the store I was in when I first looked had mostly skinny jeans everywhere. At first, I figured the skinnies were in just one section, so I didn’t look at the tag when I finally found a pair in my size (like the only pair of denim in it). Well, they were of that very style and I never understood just how seriously these people took the term "skinny."
This is not about how horrible the style looked with my curvy figure, no because I could not put the size 10s (my size) on past my lower calf. My calves are even too wide for skinny jeans! I love and am so proud of my muscular, beautiful, shapely calves, and I never want to change them.
Even though it also means I can never find great boots to fit!
I’m proud of my individual beauty. My shapely legs were the first things about my body to be right, and those curvy calves are the last things left (before I lose all the weight I want) to still look perfect.
Obviously, there’s something inherently wrong in the system.
