It’s the day after a probably disappointing Valentine’s Day. Whether you’re single, or your man didn’t deliver, now is a good time for our next discovery of an independent jewelry designer. (They have rare pieces, great style & quality, and great prices!) Now, it’s Carolyn Koslen! Her items are full of pearls or beads, full of sophistication, with trend and luxe, all mixed in.

Koslen even has some charity-donating pieces for sale, and there are bridal and children’s items. She’s worth checking out and indulging yourself, or perhaps nudging-nudging your someone.

I have never actually worn fabulous, expensive designer shoes, but when I have handfulls of cash, my first pair will be a Louboutin. Quoth the Bag Snob, “Christian Louboutin, the man with the red soles and the master at making sexy stilettos feel like cushiony slippers.” All Louboutin shoes have a signature red bottom; signature! Plus, some comfort?! Although, I’ll still go for around 2 inches.

The designs really range, and are quite trendy. But here is a ladylike, more classic pair, selling now at Bergdorf Goodman: the Strappy Lace Sandal. More lace than sandal, but plenty of strap, this shoe is elegant and luxe. Of course, it has a 4″ heel. Price? $560.

Madonna is showing a trend here, from the cover of Elle. The Material Girl’s material of late has been knit, in the form of caps. (Also seen on Isaac Mizrahi’s show.) This is one great way of doing hats right through Spring! I browsed through my favorite online shops and saw these hats that will take you from these last chilly weeks to warmer days, and even (the last 2) onto the Summer’s blistering sun!

1. Urban Outfitters Yarn Beanie (I own this, so fab.)
2. Anthropologie straw hat with pom-poms (an almost knit look, but so summer-straw, and yet with winter-cool pom-poms!)
3. Anthropologie rickrack short-brimmed bucket hat (in muted, “beach hues,” also with a knit-look braided material.)

The second two hats can be worn even now in warmer climates, and the first, too, for those dipping below 50 days!
