Fashion Don’t, Fashion Never - Dr. Martens
January 15, 2006 by Designer Ella
When I was an impressionable young minded lass, there was quite a buzz over the shoe we called “Doc Martens.” (FYI, This was in my teens, in my wee youth there was the Reebok sneaker with a hanging logo — my first desire for a logo! Ahh, memory strolls. Anyway…) I knew these Dr. Martens were ugly, but I felt the strong tug of the masses. I never did buy one pair, but there was one style I found myself nearly able to wear: the Mary Jane
.
Such is the ugliness of this shoe that I must cry out, once more, that THIS is not a shoe! It is not even a boot! No!! I dare say even that! This is a rugged, construction-work-ready, monstrosity of an item of footwear!!! Why, why, why would this be liked for appearance?
I shudder, I cower, I cringe. I must fight back!
I can’t understand a woman wearing such a shoe, but some men’s styles are actually nice. Oh, wait, THAT is labeled woman’s. Never mind.
The production of this sort of shoe to be aimed at women must end!
