Stilettos Outlawed in Mobile, Alabama
March 18, 2006 by Designer Ella
I just discovered that in Mobile, Alabama, stiletto heels are banned by law. Horrifying.
A woman in Mobile Alabama injured herself when her heel caught itself in a sidewalk grating, while walking along a street. “City fathers” passed an ordinance making it “unlawful to wear women’s pumps with sharp, high heels.”
Horrifying! That’s pretty vague and ambiguous. Firstly, any type of heel from kitten to stiletto could get caught. Secondly, the wording does not restrict itself to stilettos, as I see it. Any thin heel, even a mid one, might fit, in some eyes.
Scaaaaaaary.
