Manolo Blahnik for Clowns

February 20, 2006 by Designer Ella

It’s a Manic Monday for all professions and Manolo has proved he designs shoes for all them all, including the more “stylish” clowns.

Manolo Blahnik Printed Mule AtomicaI haven’t been feeling well these last few days, and my mood’s been off, so I wasn’t up to describing beautiful shoes well (that I can’t wear, anyway). I thought it might make me feel better to showcase how even Manolo Blahnik can create something that is off. Although looking at the blended rainbow shoe is turning my stomach a bit, I have to point out something: this shoe does not do what a pointy-toed shoe usually does, it cannot elongate the leg with all these colors. It’s distracting and would break up the appearance of the foot. Also, what would it match?

Prove me wrong and tell me why it is fantastic, I value other opinions, while I have my own. I’d even love to see this shoe in action and what ensemble it would be paired with. Wouldn’t you want to see the woman daring enough to bear these?

Or if you agree, and I’ve turned your stomach. I apologize, and you can feel free to scroll down or view the rest of the category.

When I first glanced at the shoe, before reading the label, my first thought was “looks like Pucci is at it again…” Then I read the “manolo blahnik” tag and was just confused. While Pucci has taken the bright, bold splashes of color and turned it into fashion that everyone could appreciate but few could pull off, I’m suprised that Manolo put out a shoe like this. You’re right about it not being flattering; so many colors would make any person look stubby and slightly yellowish. Not to mention that strange half-moon clip thingy on the vamp. I totally get that it’s supposed to be high fashion and fun and light, but frankly, I don’t see it.

Very good points illustrating how it wouldn’t be flattering.

I actually do like the turquoise stones buckle, I think it’s the shoe’s best quality. Perhaps in the color with the rest of the colors, it just isn’t right, though. I think a year ago on a gold or bronze metallic shoe (maybe even with the pattern, but just one color), we’d all love it.

The only person I can see wearing this shoe is Zandra Rhodes.
