Distinctly Diva with the Madara Treatment

October 4, 2005 at 3:30 pm by Designer Ella

It was merely weeks ago when my accessory shopping was changed forever, with a singular visit to one “little” website. Madara NecklaceA gal can have all her jewelry hopes and wishes fulfilled for the rest of her life, ordering online, solely from this one independent shop. Featuring a funky, one-of-a-kind selection, Madara (muh-dare-uh: family & partners Davi, Tara, & Marsha aka Mom) sells original jewelry and lovingly-picked gifts. The Madara Girls can satisfy any need, from all colors of pearls, to all types of funky, beautiful beads. Necklaces, earrings, bracelets and rings can be custom designed to your specific taste & tailoring. Don’t be afraid to ask, they can do more than what’s featured on the site. And don’t hesitate to inform them of your special needs–be it such important matters as a small wrist or sensitive skin (like the need for sterling silver earring bases)–or your individual style preferences.

All this royal treatment must come with palatial prices, you’re thinking? That’s a fable at Madara; where even necklaces come in under $40! You can build an entire look for less than the typical cost of one quality item! Even better, Kiss Me, Stace has a special offer: Receive 10% off your first purchase when you use the code KissMe10 at checkout.

Don’t doubt Madara to deny your true Diva or your distinct dreams! Shop now–and always.

Must Own Accessories this Season

October 4, 2005 at 2:25 pm by Designer Ella

Or … Accessories You Might Already Own, and Must Put to Use this Fall!

Ribbon Belt

  1. Sash belts (which often come free & matching with pants), used traditionally through your trousers’ belt loops, but tied into a large bow at the side. It is especially trendy with a white belt.
  2. An actual long ribbon to wear as a belt, both tied into a bow and loose, at different times, at different positions on the waist (around a blazer or cardigan). This accentuates the curves of any figure.
  3. Shorter ribbons to tie onto jewelry, bracelet watches, and well, think of your own ways to do it!
  4. Socks Under Boots seen on Delia\'s .com catalog modelA few different velvet accents. You must have something lying around, or with its abundance this season, I’d bet you bought maybe a few items, already!
  5. Sheer-shimmer or textured tights. These are being toted as wearable with boots, but I say you can wear a subtle tight with flats. That’s a bit daring, want to go even further? Wear them with dress wedges or Mary Jane heels!
  6. Warm, knee socks that are either in a “nerd-chicpattern or an earthy-solid, to wear peeking up above tall boots.

Yes, with the current “comfort” trend, there is a practical want for actual warmth in these chilly months. Yet, fashionistas stubbornly hold on to wearing skirts in February, and wearing heeled boots on the ice. At least there’s a contented medium!

Delia\'s Jeizel Three PairBut knee-high socks paired with boots? Yes, those striped and argyle pieces of cloth some might call monstrosities are in once more. Call me crazy, and it may be controversial, but I think the look is cute and I’m quite glad it’s in. I love that demi-dork printed, warming leg gear.

While I’m at it, who’s to notice if you even brave the cold in toe socks? (No one sees those toes!) You can think of me as a Rule Breaker (once in a while).

How easy? Shopping can be like a gift! But don’t forget, the biggest part of being a Fabulista is effort, what’s hottest now is to make your own look, creatively! Get dressing!

Now you tell me, what accessory-types are you feeling right now? What are your special ways of putting them together?

BE the Fashionista

October 4, 2005 at 1:40 pm by Designer Ella

You want to show your personality in the way you dress. But you should try to stay away from blatantly advertising it with graphics and texts on t-shirts and such. People should get this sense with your fashion sense, you should not need to hit them over the head with it. Actually, it’s not even nearly as effective as a well put-together outfit.

Say you’re into fashion, you may be drawn to little drawings of fashionistas on anything and everything. This is o.k. for bedroom décor (up until a certain age or lack of singledom). But it’s really detracting from the image you want to portray if you wear it on a plain shirt.

You need to dress and play the part, not just read the lines!

Subtlety goes a long way, as well, remember.
