Marc Jacobs Blasts a Class-of-2006-Spirit Impression

New York Fashion Week Fall 2005 Marc Jacobs Spring 2006 showMarc Jacobs is my favorite apparel designer–yet we do not have a perfect relationship. So when I logged on to Style.com and saw his show in the spotlight, I was excited to see the pieces, and even intrigued by the mislead style of the pictured red sweater. This was going to be a fun examination and feature to write (tag line immediately in mind).

The show was dramatic and theatric; with a classic school theme appropriate for his smart style. No wonder this studious college girl, with a relish for yesteryear sophistication, is a fan. For me, and the other fashion fillies, the parade of fine apparel was the true eye-gaper show.

A) A muscle man-woman at a biker bar. “WUT? You want a piece of me? I’ll do my supermodel strut and bitch-slap yo’ mug.”

B) From the ‘hood to the office. I thought the previous wide-leg menswear trousers were too baggy, boy, this outweights it. And honey, those pants are cropped! and cuffed! Add the too-long, bulging sweater, and you look like you’re playing dress up in (stylish Big n’ Short) daddy’s clothes.
