Ugg-ly Furry Feet
December 22, 2005 by Designer Ella
I have a feeling that with the popularity of Uggs, combined with the majority opinion against fur, there is a problem lurking in a comfortable, warm exterior.
Now, if you read the description on Uggs, you know they are made of sheep skin. No problem? Fine, I like leather, myself. But many of the boots are lined with shearling. Well, that’s from sheep, too; but lambs:
The skin of a shearling or of a newly sheared sheep or lamb, tanned and with the wool on.
Lambs are so cute with their wittie faces and curly hair (which fashionistas apparently admire).
Sure, these are farm animals and aren’t caught in traps that lead to “innocent” suffering. Sure, it’s like the same as calf leather. Personally, I wouldn’t wear a baby sheep. (I’m hypocritically complex, so?)
I just wanted to make sure that all the girls in the mall wearing Ugg boots are aware they have baby sheep fur lining their calves.
