Advice: What to Wear With Boots
I absolutely love the style of Rocket Dog boots, the Ezumo (detail/feminine, chocolate brown, suede) but I am a bit confused over what to wear with them. Skirts will look adorable, obviously, but I don’t wear skirts a lot. Boot cut jeans and this boot style do not seem to be a good combination. Can you help? Thanks in advance.
Obviously, a little brown corduroy skirt and contrasting tights would look great with these boots, but that would also leave your legs cold in weather suitable for these sturdy, shearling lined boots. And of course, the cute shearling with toggle button trimmed sides are adorable, but they cause a problem with pants. Should one buy overly-flared pants? No.
You might need “skinny jeans;” (like Levi’s 503 Superlow Skinny from Dillard’s) jeans that are slim throughout to fit into boots. But they don’t look good on every figure. If your hips are large, but calves are small, you might be able to fit in a more modest boot cut pant (like these from The Gap or Diesel’s from Urban Outfitters) into the boots. Possibly, you’ll size the boots up to fit in extra large layers of socks, anyway!
What a more curvy woman could do is buy leggings (popular a la Marc by Marc Jacobs) and wear those under a skirt. Hopefully, you could find thick enough ones for milder winter days—or you might get away with hiding tights under those skin-hugging leggings, you’ll find them no bulkier than regular pants. It might even be warmer than a single layer of denim! (But you might have to become a skirt girl.)
My last idea might be the best; you can try a jean or capri cuffed to show off the boot. Urban Outfitters even makes a skinny jean in this way, for this purpose! The boots will be free and shown off, while all parts of your legs will be covered, for below the pant is that warm shearling! You should wear the pants just low enough to sling over the boot a tad. And for really cold days, I suggest tights underneath!
