Boots: Why High? The Lowdown

October 8, 2005 by Designer Ella

Diesel Tuolomne BootWhy we like flats, but need our boots high:

Aside from many women’s preference for a height boost, it’s about visual interest. Usually boots are plain around the actual foot area; the heel adds some contrast. This is also why we loooove wedge boots (in a contrasting heel color)! Boots risk looking chunky without heels, also, because there is just so much material on a boot.

Report RingletFlats are super smart-chic and retro-mod, yet of course, practical. They’re definitely good looking footwear, partly because they can be detailed–or in some rockin’ hot color. They’re best when dainty—strike that, they’re only appropriate when dainty.

Be a Fabulista and only get high on footwear, choose the right shoes and come down soft and satisfied.

Am the only one who chooses the height of their shoes based on the man they are datings?

I’m average height (5′5″) but if I’m with someone over 5′10″ I’ll wear something with a lift. But anyone shorter than that and I stick to flats.

Designer Ella Says:

At 4′11″ 1/4, I usually don’t get the luxury of that choice. To me, under 5′6″ and I suppose I’d want to stay just as short as I am, to keep the difference, because I’m used to a v.e.r.y. laarge one.

But really, as a fashionista, I don’t want to restrict myself from fancy nights with fabulous heels! They’re a special treat, break them out on occasion and LET your man deal with HIS issues! Why follow archaic rules intended to keep women DOWN?

Ric Says:

Check out Sergio Rossi’s wedge collection, it is totally awesome! you don’t even feel the 11 cm (European) heel.

Designer Ella Says:

That’s 4.25″, honey.

Are you a guy, Ric? Does Sergio make them for guys? Yeah, so how would you know?

4 1/4″!

I’m sorry, this just seems like spam without a link to me, I don’t know how to react.
