Sweater Shoes !!!

September 28, 2005 by Designer Ella

LIVS - Women's Tall
I’ve brought this up before, in quick summary, but it’s so agitating, it deserves its own post.

Comfort, comfort, comfort.
What’s the craze-y-est thing in Fall Footwear? Shoes of different “styles” made of
sweater material.
Sweater shoes.

Sweater Shoes!

Delia\'s Sweater Boots If you like the comfy crochet feel, or even look, I’d opt for these Delia’s Sweater Boots, instead of the popular LIVS (above). They’re a lot less slouchy, and actually have a rather nice heel for any winter boot. The LIVS have schlumpy, shapeless soles, and no defined heel. They’re rather generally disgusting.

I hope goats and sheep are contentedly growing wool as fast as this trend is catching on, though. Many brands are cozying up to the idea. (LIVS is devoted solely to the focus.) But Steve Madden designed the most daring of them all; chunky knit slides–some with flowers or bling)

–all complete with platforms.

*Ghuaaarrhaahgghlggh!!!*

Oh, my! Excuse my unladylike moment of vulgarity. Those shoes are just wrong. Period.

But with any trend, to a fashionista comes a growing … comfort with a look–or feel. There are often certain appeals. Still on my “comfy” kick amidst hard school days, Report SnugglesI find myself yearning for these.
Report Snuggles.
I’ve tried them on several times. They were indeed super comfy, but looked a little bulky on my petite reflection. Perhaps with pants covering them?? I know I sound like a mad, raving woman; a desperate female on the verge, but you must try to understand. These would certainly be my only shoe to never force me to wear one band-aid. Not once! And they are so cute in the pictures, which turns my mind in frenzied circles.

Maybe you guys can help.

Spurred on by my fevered daze, and also by my unfruitful browsing for a winter boot with a good style and nice heel; yet will not force me to flip head over those heels–in Boston’s ice, I’m now thinking about those Delia’s Sweater Boots. You know of my love of boots! You’ve heard my horror heel story! I now am growing a softer spot for that particular boot.

I know. I’ve hit certifiable mark, but these are the only boots I’ve seen with a small wedge heel. I’m sure you understand this frustration!

So, please, tell me what you think about all of these shoes; if there are alternative buys; and how they relate to the Uggs we must all replace this year. And … if I need to get checked out to see if my style-sense is on the tingling fritz!

I’m feeling a quite discomfort over this fretful issue, and I can’t make this decision alone.

Update: I updated the LIVs link (in image), it now works.

Okay, okay, Ella. First repeat after me, “I will own the shoes, they will not own me.” Oh, who am I kidding, shoes run my life, too!

“They’re rather generally disgusting.” HA! I love it! And I agree. I may have to get a pair of the Delia boots myself because my feet are the first thing to freeze in the winter weather, and cuz I think they are pretty cute to boot… get it to boot?! Sorry. Anyway, those black and pink ones are just adorable, too.

I like this trend much, MUCH better than the UGGS. I never understood those things anyway…

much love… for shoes,
J*B*

KiKi Says:

No…No…No…Cardiagns on your feet? Check out Urbanoutfitters.com. They have some scrumptions suede LOW heeled boots, perfect for the harshest winter days…and they’d go with everything!

MJ Says:

wow, i just stumbled onto your blog. i really enjoy it! keep up the great work. i’ll be checking in often.

Spirit Fingers Says:

I have seen these sweater shoes/boots at Emma Hope (a British shoe designer) as well.

Designer Ella Says:

“I will own the shoes.” Ahh, that sounds good. Wait - “They will not own me.”

The shoes love YOU, J*B*!

Oh, I haven’t shopped at Urban Outfitters in a long while.

KIKI, which boots did you mean? I’m not sure about doing anything Western, myself. The Cord Sherpa Boots might do the job for winter, but I’m not really a tuck-jeans-into-boots gal (maybe I should be), so I don’t know if they’d look good. I think I like the Suede Wrap Wedge Boot. It doesn’t say how high the wedge is, but it looks not too high in addition to the platform. (High) Platforms are of the devil, but this one might have a good comparitive height to the wedge–to make it look small enough. I also don’t know which color I like. Usually I want to go with brown this Autumn, but the black seems more versatile (even though it’s harder to see the “wraps”) and classy, and the Olive has multicolored wraps! With those colors, it can go with more things, but is the pale green right for me; a winter? I do usually love green–as a Spring color.

I looked over the Emma Hope website, and can’t buy (because of price AND no store, heh), and also didn’t see sweater shoes. But that’s alright, now I’m more educated! Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, MJ! I’ll check out your blog, now!

Love this blog! I just discovered it through pet-pet. I will have to read more later — I am at work now… ;)

Designer Ella Says:

Thanks, glad to appeal to your different tastes. ;-)

Everybody’s workin’ for the weekend!

Designer Ella Says:

Sooooooo even though I know they’re probably not the ones Kiki was talking about … I neeeed boots. Today was sooooo cold. I went out in my Uggly boots! No, I can’t do that, it wasn’t even October! Anyway, I’m wondering about all of your abilities to eyeball heel height. I’m generally good at it, but I’m not practiced with platform heels. That brings me to … IS the platform too chunky?!

Designer YoYo Says:

I LOVE the report snuggles shoes BUT they are way too expensive.. You can get something very similar at delias or at the delias website.

Designer Ella Says:

Yes, the Delia’s Snuggles Slides are the same shoe, in design and somewhat cheaper (depending on sales). But I was concerned they’d be poorer quality. I tried another Report Delia’s copy from Delia’s, and they were not comfy—which is what they were supposed to be. I never tried the Report, but I’m sure those were good. I’m usually overly pleased with my Reports. Find Report at Zappos.
