Kate Moss Can’t Find a Job

Kate Moss in Rimmel adAfter British tabloid, The Daily Mirror, featured candid shots of Kate Moss allegedly snorting cocaine, the supermodel’s career is “falling apart.” Major designers and companies have quickly dropped Moss from their advertising campaigns, including Burberry and Hennes and Mauritz. H. Stern has canceled plans for their 60th anniversary ad campaign that highlighted the beauty of their jewelry by Kate’s own. Chanel will not renew her contract (up in October) and retailer, H&M, will cancel their relationship. Cosmetics company, Rimmel (”London Look”), has put their deal “under review.”

Kate Moss spoke out about the scandal,

“I take full responsibility for my actions,” she said in a statement released by her modeling agency, Storm.

“I also accept that there are various personal issues that I need to address and have started taking the difficult, yet necessary, steps to resolve them.

“I want to apologize to all of the people I have let down because of my behavior which has reflected badly on my family, friends, co-workers, business associates and others.”

Ella says, this could truly be the hidden gift inside an unsightly package. Drugs are not chic; they can make a person very ugly, but we all hope she turns her life around. We know that all publicity is good; her career will be booming bigger in practically no time! Good luck and well wishes, Kate!

(And I apologize for the Jewel quote in this title.)

Isn’t “fame” odd? I can’t recall the exact magazine, though I believe it was Elle, whose past issue declared Kate Moss’ birthday party the most outlandish of all parties. The elite of fashions’ society graced Kate with an enormity of expensive gifts, but now it seems as though “they’ve” (meaning the industry) have turned against her. The fashion industry constantly perpetuates the myth of perfect beauty, and sadly younger people might be unaware of this fact (just watch “America’s Next Top Model” and listen to some of the seemingly hapless girls). Thank you Tyra Banks!! Still that’s another issue altogether (right Designer Ella?) LOL :-) I feel as if modeling is an industry waiting to ensnarl young girls, yet young girls are eager to accept what the industry has to offer. Is it any wonder, then, when a model is photographed snorting lines of cocaine? So is Kate “the reality” of fame, or merely another fallen star?

Do I feel an inkling of regret for Kate Moss? Yes!, I do. I’ve seen friends go through drug addiction, and it’s horrible! I think the ugliest and most ignoble thing of all is for the industry to behave as though they were deaf, dumb, and blind throughout Kate’s drug use! They are pandering an image, and no one, not even her elite friends (to my knowledge) have spoken out to admit they said or did anything to stop her. Is that a friend or the result of fame?

Personally, Stella McCartney comes out on top in my book because she ultimately tried to keep Kate on at H&M. She probably knew the outcome ahead of time, but she showed her true colors as a friend. Even with all of her clout, it must not have been easy to stand up to H&M. A friend should go to the mat sometimes. Though, now maybe Kate can get some help. Just think about it, what if several people in the industry had tried to fight for Marilyn Monroe? Her face wouldn’t grace the cover of some tacky metal lunchboxes now would it? I do have to admit dropping Kate from her modeling contracts was the right thing to do, for she has become an icon in the fashion world. Above all else, her health and child is of upmost importance now. I know it is an oxymoron to say someone Stella is a queen of the hill for fighting for Kate’s H&M contract, and yet Kate should have been released from them anyhow. I merely wished to point out that Kate still has a few friends who might stick through her drug rehabilitation with her. And trust me, she’ll need everyone of them.

Thanks for your sharing your thoughts.

Now, Rimmel London has decided to continue with Kate, and Christian Dior, H Stern and Fred Paris “appear to” be, as well.
