Fashion Designers Sketch Shoes in Honor of Andy Warhol

Manolo Blahnik design drawing for Andy Warhol Museum I recieved this in an e-mail, so I’m posting it. :-) Unfortunately, I’m a slacker with that address, so this is just a little bit late. I won’t let that happen again, because I’ve gotten a few great e-mails. If you want me to post something, send it over!

(Pittsburgh, PA)…March 28, 2005…The Andy Warhol Museum today announced that it has secured commitments from leading designers to sketch shoes in honor of its tenth anniversary. Inspired by the works of Andy Warhol and created solely for the Museum’s April 9, 2005 Spike-a-delic gala fundraiser, the exclusive, signed drawings will be auctioned online via Ebay.com beginning April 1, 2005.

(seller name: theandywarholmuseum) All proceeds will benefit The Warhol’s educational exhibitions and programs fund.

Participating designers, artists and celebrities include:
Polly Apfelbaum, Jeffrey Banks, John Bankston, Manolo Blahnik, Sully Bonnelly, Edmundo Castillo, Roberto Cavalli, Kenneth Cole, Ashley Dearborn, Sam Edelman, Ferragamo, Cole Haan, Hollywould, Heidi Klum, Christian Louboutin, Steve Madden, Carlos Miele, Nicole Miller, Isaac Mizrahi, Burton Morris, Paloma Picasso, Narciso Rodriguez, Sonia Rykiel, Patti Smith, Martha Stewart, Vivienne Tam, Marcel Wanders and John Waters.

“Andy Warhol had a lifelong fascination with shoes and a remarkable career as an illustrator and artist,” said The Warhol’s Director, Thomas Sokolowski. “So it’s fitting that in celebrating The Warhol’s tenth anniversary, we’ll not only pay tribute to the life and works of Warhol, but also to today’s world-class designers who enable us to express and differentiate ourselves through their fashions.”

About The Andy Warhol Museum
The Andy Warhol Museum is committed to a distinctly youthful perspective - to being a vital forum in which diverse audiences of artists, scholars and the general public are galvanized through creative interaction with the art and life of Andy Warhol. The Warhol is ever-changing and constantly re-defining itself in relation to contemporary life, using its unique collections and dynamic, interactive programming as tools to meet its mission in the city, region and world.
